Devlog: Embrace the Chaos with Our New Character Creation Method

I'm incredibly excited to pull back the curtain on one of our most innovative and beloved new game mechanics: The Destiny Roller. This system is truly my pride and joy, as it perfectly captures the chaotic, unpredictable, and absurd "slice of life" feel that defines Bizarre Boroughs.

Now, I want to be crystal clear: The Destiny Roller is 100% optional. It's a fun, alternative method for players who love a challenge and want to embrace a more chaotic, random character creation process. By no means is this the "default" way to make a Citizen. You and your players are still free to use the standard character creation methods from the core rules, or to roll on any table you want a surprise in.

So, why would you choose the Destiny Roller? It's for the player who wants to be surprised, for the one who thrives on building a story from the unexpected. It’s a fast-track to a truly unique character, forcing you out of your comfort zone and giving you a Citizen you might never have designed on your own. It's the perfect way to kick off a story where your circumstances truly dictate your starting point, making every campaign feel fresh and new.

To get you started, we're making a beta version of the Destiny Roller available as a simple .html file that you can use right now. This is a sneak peek of the tool, and we're planning to build it out into a full, feature-rich web application in a later phase of Bizarre Boroughs development.
